Obituary: Amundrud, Kenneth

Age 91

AMUNDRUD, Kenneth (Age 91) Born December 6, 1922 Passed away September 13, 2014 Ken believed in the words of John 5:28, 29 ” All those in the memorial tombs will be resurrected.”

Ken Amunrud was born on December 6th, 1922, in Bagley, Minnesota on a homestead farm.

On December 6th this year he would have been 92.

His parents were Christian and Caroline Amunrud.

There were ten children.

He had six brothers and three sisters who all have passed away.

Ken was the last one of his immediate family.

Ken, his brothers and sisters grew up speaking Norwegian.

Bagley, Minnesota was often referred to as “Little Norway”.

They learned to speak English when they started school.

Ken was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1940.

He had spent most of his life sharing the “good news” about God’s Kingdom, the many blessings that are soon to be realized.

It is God’s promise that all should enjoy paradise here on earth.

Because of his belief in God’s Word he refused to take up arms in World War II, and was sent to prison for two and a half years in Sandstone, Minnesota.

He spent 35 years as a Railway Carman for Burlington Railroad.

He started in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1948, and moved to Spokane, Washington in 1955.

He retired from Burlington Railroad in 1984.

He moved to Spokane in 1955 and lived at his present address for 53 years.

He was a very friendly and humble person who enjoyed helping others, especially elderly ones or anyone needing help.

He ran errands for them, shoveled snow in winter, and mowed lawns in summer.

He really enjoyed being around people showing neighborly love for others.

On October 11, 1947 he married Hazel Hill in Bagley, Minnesota.

On October 11th this year they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage.

In 1971 they raised two nephews, Ronald and Donald Ritchie.

In 1995 Tabatha was born to Don and Aimee, and he became a Grandfather to Tabby, who he dearly loved.

Ken leaves many nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all.

Memorial Services to be held September 27, 2014 at 5pm, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 2824 N. Lee, Spokane WA.
