Obituary: Ray, George Crawford

Age 77

RAY, George Crawford September 24, 1937- September 14, 2014 George went to be with the Lord after a long cour- ageous battle with varying health issues.

George was born in Ione, WA., to Leroy and Eleanor Ray.

He was raised in Spokane, WA.

He attended St. Anne’s Elementary School and graduated from Gonzaga High School.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1954.

He served aboard the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier.

After the Navy, George went to work for the Spokane Police Department.

He then attended Gonzaga University and then transferred to Eastern Washington University, and he graduated with a BA degree in teaching.

George went to work for the Mead School District, in WA.

Then George had the opportunity to go to work for his father at Spokane Drilling Company.

George worked there until retirement and at that time he was sole owner.

After retirement George loved the game of golf, and also spent a lot of his time at his home on Waitts Lake fishing.

George and Betty wintered in Yuma, AZ for 15 years.

While there, they worked at Villa Alameda RV Resort for 11 years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor, his father, Leroy and his sister, Mary Ellen.

George is survived by his wife Betty, his brother Bill and sister Lee Bero; his children, Matt, Mona, Ron, Wayne, Steve, Jeff, Tami and Greg, and grandchildren; Crystal, Jake, Travis, Scotty, Shawn, Amber, Brandon, Zach, Josh, Thomas, Dianna, Brittany, Ashley, Adam, Andrew, Nick, Kenny, Cody-George, Wyatt, Violet, Tom, Becky, Sam Travis, Jenna, Kate, Jay, Jake, Bo, Cole, Tim, Mandi, Joe and Josh.

He also left behind 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Here’s to you My Love, Papa, Papa George, Pop, Pops, Hop on Pop, and Georgie Porgie.

Oh, how we will miss you!

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church 3083 Hemlock St., Valley, WA 99181.

Followed by inurnment at Jump Off Joe Cemetery.
