Not fair to AMR

I work for American Medical Response, Spokane’s highly qualified and experienced ambulance service provider for more than 50 years. Fire union representatives have not hidden their desire to increase membership ranks and dues revenue by moving ambulance responsibilities over to the fire service. This change is opposed by the city fire chief and administrators, as the switch could lay heavy financial burden on taxpayers and potentially lower the standard of care currently being provided by AMR.

A city councilman’s move to rebid the contract after AMR was already the qualified and selected vendor is deeply unfair to AMR. It’s ridiculous that AMR should be penalized for another company’s complaint after failing to bid, long after the two-month process ended. It would make no sense for the city to spend time and money redoing what was a fair process for something that would clearly be unfair, not to mention costly.
