Elephant caption shameful

Shame on you, Spokesman-Review, for your Sept. 11 front page “Showered with Attention” caption, and your blurb perpetuating the myth that circus elephants are pampered. Nothing could be further from the truth.

So shame on you, and hurray for the protesters and the groups working to bring to light the horrors of circus animals’ lives and the brutality involved in getting these magnificent animals to perform tricks. Unfortunately, there is money to be made, so the cruelty and exploitation will continue as long as people keep buying tickets and attending circuses that feature captive wild animals.
