Obituary: Lundbeck, Darrell Eugene

Age 61

LUNDBECK, Darrell Eugene Darrell Eugene Lundbeck, of Spokane Valley, Washington passed away peacefully at his home on September 4, 2014 at the age of 61.

Darrell was born November 3, 1952 in Wallace, Idaho to Daniel and Irene Lundbeck.

He grew up in Kellogg and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

After high school Darrell enlisted in the service where he served four years in the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division in Korea (1972-1975), receiving an honorable discharge and the rank of Army Specialist-4.

After his service to his country he returned to Coeur d’Alene where he worked as an underground miner at the Sunshine Mine in Osburn, Idaho.

He also held jobs as a meat cutter and as a carpenter.

Darrell lived most of his life in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, Idaho, only recently moving to Spokane Valley.

He enjoyed being in the outdoors and fishing was one of his favorite recreations.

He also enjoyed traveling and riding his motorcycles.

He liked to listen to his music and strum his guitar.

He took pride in his large firearm collection.

He was a life-long lover of animals and had many dogs and cats, always black, and always named “Blackie” or “Barney.”

(A favorite family movie was when Mom took Barney to Fernan Lake where Darrell was fishing on the opposite shore.

Barney was so excited to see Darrell that he ran off the dock, jumped into the water and swam all the way across the lake to be with Darrell.

That was the devotion between Darrell and his dog).

Darrell had a unique sense of humor, and if you were not ready for it, it would often surprise you.

A major source of comfort to Darrell was his strong faith in Jesus.

He was generous in his support to a number of missionary causes.

He read his Bible every day, and in fact, was reading his Bible at breakfast when he suddenly passed away.

Darrell’s parents Daniel and Irene preceded him in death.

Darrell is survived by his brother, Albert Lundbeck; and sisters Sandra Swank and Beverly Lenke.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1700 NORTH SPOKANE STREET, POST FALLS, IDAHO 83854.

Following a short reception guests are invited to join the family for a military interment service at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, Washington 99022.
