Obituary: Dyk, Ruth Ann
Age 71
She was born October 10, 1942 in Spokane to Philip and Irene Reid.
She went to Stevens Elementary Grade School and graduated from Mead High School in 1960.
Ruth Ann went on to graduate from Deaconess Nursing School in 1964 and then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Whitworth University in 1965.
She also did a year of Bible study at Simpson Bible College in Redding, CA.
Ruth Ann took her nursing skills and love for the Lord to the mission field, working for Wycliffe Bible Translators as a nurse for six years in Mexico, Ecuador and Bogota, Columbia.
In 1979 Ruth Ann adopted her only daughter Kara from Bogota, Columbia.
During this time she worked as both an NICU and Labor and Delivery nurse with Sacred Heart and Holy Family Hospitals.
On March 15, 1986 Ruth Ann married the love of her life Robert Dyk in Spokane.
She then dedicated her life to making a beautiful home for her family.
Cooking, sewing and crafting were her passions.
She was very active in Women’s Ministries at Garland Avenue Alliance Church and Bible Study Fellowship.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her father Philip Reid.
She is survived by her mother Irene Reid; husband Robert W. Dyk; daughter Kara (Marcus) Wozny; brothers Ray (Karen) Reid, Jim (Jean) Reid; sisters Mary Lou Reid, Marcia (Larry) Anderson; stepsons Craig (Barb), Curt (Cathy), Tim, Barri, Marvin (Brenda); 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and seven nephews.
Ruth Ann was a devoted servant of the Lord, wife, mother, sister and friend.
She will always be in our hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 1:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home.
