Signed The Cleveland Cavaliers signed free agent forward Shawn Marion on Tuesday, adding more postseason experience to a team targeting an NBA title. A 15-year veteran, Marion won a championship with Dallas in 2011. Last season, the 6-foot-7 Marion averaged 10.4 points and 6.5 rebounds in 76 starts for the Mavericks.

Announced Montana football coach Mick Delaney said quarterback Jordan Johnson will play Saturday when the Grizzlies host South Dakota. Johnson sat out last Saturday’s game against Central Washington after suffering a concussion in the season-opener against Wyoming.

• Five-time cycling grand tour winner Alberto Contador said he won’t compete in the upcoming road world championships on Sept. 21-28 in Ponferrada, Spain. “The worlds don’t enter into my plans,” Contador said. Contador leads at the Spanish Vuelta with five days to go and said afterwards “my goal is to rest as much as possible.”

Suspended Detroit Pistons center Greg Monroe has been suspended for two games without pay for pleading guilty to driving while visibly impaired in Michigan. The NBA announced the penalty Tuesday, a day after the Pistons signed the restricted free agent to a $5.48 million, one-year qualifying offer.

Dead Former Denver Broncos Pro Bowl safety and also a member of the team’s Ring of Fame, Austin “Goose” Gonsoulin, has died. He was 76. A spokeswoman for Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas, said Gonsoulin died Monday while in hospice care in nearby Beaumont. She did not have a cause of death but says Gonsoulin was battling prostate cancer. He was a member of the first Broncos team, fielded in 1960.

• A Utah ape who gained national fame by accurately predicting the Super Bowl winner seven consecutive years has died. The Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City announced that the 24-year-old orangutan named Eli died Saturday from complications due to breast cancer.
