Obituary: Gross, Judy Rae
She was born in 1937 in Spokane to the late Dorothy and Lester Lareva.
She was the second of four children.
Older brother the late Lee Lareva, Kathy Hansen and the late Joan Lareva.
Judy graduated from North Central High School in 1955.
She met Peter Gross while working at the soda fountain at the Davenport Hotel.
They married on August 27th, 1955 and were married for nearly 53 years until his passing in 2008.
They had five children; Randy Gross, Sandra McMullin and grandson JJ Bjordahl; Debra (Ron) Horn and grandchildren Dana (Marc) Duncan, Nikki (Joey) Rivera, Michael (Kim) DiNino, Katelyn Horn and Samantha Horn, and great-grandchild Chase Duncan; Mary (Todd) Jordan and grandchildren Christina Jones, Lisa Taylor and Zachary Jordan, Cathi (Shawn) Phelps and granddaughter Erica Phelps.
She worked for Hennessey and Curran Law Firm 1960 - 1970 as well as working from home doing legal transcription.
She worked for the State of Washington in various agencies for nearly 23 years until her retirement in 1993.
After retiring she attended Spokane Community College and received a vocational degree in medical transcription.
Judy and Peter bought their land on Five Mile Prairie in 1964.
They had an enormous garden where they grew and sold produce for many years.
U-pick beets, beans and raspberries.
They raised chickens and turkeys, had big butchering parties and sold beautiful hand-raised turkeys at Thanksgiving time.
They built their house on the prairie in 1975 and later in 1993 built another home on their other Five Mile property just up the road.
Mom loved flowers and spent many hours tending her beautiful flower beds.
She loved her friends, they brought her joy and laughter.
She loved her children unconditionally and she adored her grandchildren, making each one feel that they were her favorite.
And she so loved her little Daisy, her sweet little maltese/shitzu mix.
Visitation Thursday, October 23rd from 12-7 pm.
Rosary Friday, October 24th at 7pm at Hennessy Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division.
Funeral services St. Thomas More, Saturday, October 25th at 10 am with interment ceremony following at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
