Freeman remains atop NWPrepsNow.com power rankings
The Freeman football team continues to be the darling of the NWPrepsNow Power 6 rankings panel.
The defending State 1A champion Scotties (5-0) were voted first for a second consecutive week with 56 points.
“Have won 19 straight and are in midseason form with another clown stomping,” said Paul Sorensen, who does color commentary for Eastern Washington University games and Greater Spokane League Thursday games.
“Probably no team in the Inland Northwest has been as impressive this season as Freeman,” SWX producer Neil Stover said. “The Scotties have now outscored opponents this season by a total of 234-14. Let me say that again: 234-14.”
The Power 6 rankings each week are based on which teams have the best chance, in the opinion of the panel, of going deep in their respective classes come postseason.
Coeur d’Alene (4-1) received 50 points and remained in second.
“Big win for the Vikings, they needed it against Hermiston,” SWX sports anchor John Collett said of CdA’s 31-27 win last Friday.
Rounding out the top six are Lake City (4-1), which received 35 points, Shadle Park (4-1), with 28, two-time defending 2B state champ Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (5-0), with 27, and Colville (5-0), which made its debut in the poll with five points.
“Still can’t wait for that IEL 5A meeting between the Vikings and Lake City later this season,” Josh Ouellette of SWX said.
Said Stover: “Lake City started a little slow Friday – at least by its standards – but the Timberwolves really turned it on soon thereafter. Jerry Louie-McGee and Connor Newby are as good of a skill position tandem as there is in the Inland Northwest.”
