Texas congressman, 91, injured in car crash
PLANO, Texas – The oldest-ever member of the U.S. House of Representatives was airlifted to a Texas hospital Saturday due to injuries from a car accident, though a spokesman said the congressman is expected to recover.
Texas Republican Ralph Hall suffered a hip injury and minor cuts and bruises when a car turned in front of his vehicle, according to spokesman Ed Valentine. The drivers were not injured.
The 91-year-old congressman was conscious while he was taken by helicopter to Medical Center of Plano. Doctors expect a full recovery, Valentine said.
Hall lost a 4th District primary challenge in a Republican runoff election in May and is scheduled to leave office in January.
