Obituary: Streifel, Sandra Dawn (Rasmussen)

Age 71

STREIFEL, Sandra Dawn (Rasmussen) Passed away September 25th at Hospice of Spokane.

Sandy was born June 14th, 1943 in Rockford, IL to Dawn (Marston) Rasmussen and Wayne Stewart Rasmussen.

She graduated from Rockford West High School in 1961.

Sandy married Reuben Streifel in Missoula, MT in 1974 and they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on December 27th this year.

Sandy and Reuben moved to Spokane, WA in 1976 where Sandy gave birth to their son Steffan.

Sandy worked several years as an Executive Assistant at the Spokane Industrial Park and was former Office Manager at Roen Associates Architects from 1995-2008.

Sandy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of the American Business Women’s Association, and Executive Women International.

Sandy enjoyed retirement life by spending winters in Scottsdale, AZ, and summers at Lake Pend Orielle, ID.

Sandy and Reuben also enjoyed numerous travel adventures to Cabo San Lucas, the Mexican Riviera, Trinidad, and Hawaii.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband Reuben, her son Steffan (DeShauna) Streifel, grand-children Tristan, Mia and Branson, mother Dawn Rasmussen, sister Jody (Marigene) Rasmussen of Phoenix, AZ, sister Jill (Steve) Marzorati of Rockford, IL, brother Michael Rasmussen of Phoenix, AZ, brother Scott Rasmussen of Spokane, WA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Sandy was a devoted mother, grandma, sister and friend to all.

She had a wonderful sense of humor that will be missed by all she knew.

Sandy was an avid Gonzaga men’s basketball fan and made a point to follow all of their games.

She also was a lover of country music, especially in the 219 Lounge in Sandpoint, ID and The Cabin in East Missoula, MT where she met the love of her life.

Special thanks to Hospice of Spokane on 7th Avenue for their excellent and compassionate care and to her niece Veva Carlson for assisting in her care at this difficult time.

Arrangements through Spokane Cremation and Burial with a private celebration of life to be held at the family lake house in August 2015.
