Area figure skaters qualify for nationals
Three top-four finishes at the 2015 Pacific Coast Sectional Figure Skating Championships last week at Eagles Ice-A-Rena earned four members of the Lilac City Figure Skating Club spots in the nationals.
Qualifying for the Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships Jan. 18-25, 2015, in Greensboro, North Carolina, are Cody Lithco and partner Ashlyn Gaughan of Broadmoor Skating Club in Colorado Springs in Senior Dance after a third-place finish; Emily Viehouser and Collin Woodall-Williams, who were third in Juvenile Dance; and Cheyenne King, fourth in Intermediate Ladies.
Other finishes for Lilac City, the host club for the sectionals which were held Nov. 18-22: Kayleigh Elliott, sixth, Intermediate Ladies; Mackenzie Kazandjian, seventh, Juvenile Girls; Woodall-Williams, ninth, Intermediate Men; Larissa Rasmussen, 11th, Junior Ladies; Courtney Kirschke, 11th, Novice Ladies; and Dmitri Murphy, 12th Novice Men.
Jody Millet of Spokane Figure Skating Club placed ninth in Junior Men.
