Skiers must speak out
The small local environmentalist group, The Lands Council, has been obstructing improved lift-assisted skiing for us locals at Mt. Spokane through ongoing disingenuous machinations.
Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park has continuously followed Washington law, and acted in good faith in collaboration with Mount Spokane State Park, and has been an excellent steward of the land for over five decades. We local skiers who want to continue improving our skier experience at Mt. Spokane must come forward with our presence now.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is holding a special public comment meeting about the Mount Spokane State Park Potential Alpine Ski Expansion Area (PASEA). This meeting will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday, at the Center Place Recreation Center, 2426 N. Discovery Place, Spokane Valley.
The Lands Council has misrepresented the facts, as demonstrated by its assertions about old growth forest that are not empirically supported by the environmental impact statement. It is time for us, the overwhelming majority of locals who enjoy the family friendly skiing opportunities that Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park offers everyone, to take an active stand.
