Obituary: Kagele, Lewis W.
Age 91
Lewis grew up on the family farm and attended school in Ritzville graduating from Ritzville High School.
Lewis later married Darlene Schell on November 18, 1945 in Ruff, WA.
They were farmers and ranchers southwest of Odessa and later owned and operated the Odessa Golf Course, where they built their retirement home and continued to live until Darlene’s death in 2009.
Lewis continued to live in Odessa until his health made it necessary to move to the Rose Garden Estates in Ritzville, WA where he has lived for the past three years.
Lewis was an avid hunter, golfer, horseman, and outdoorsman.
In his younger years he competed in many Northwest rodeos as a tie-down roper.
He also took great pride in the mules he bred and trained for packing and riding.
The scripture he loved to quote is; “This is the day the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Lewis passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2014 in Ritzville, WA.
He is survived by his two children: Susan and Cho Larson, Clark and Charlene Kagele; and six grandchildren: Michael (Tara) Williams, Jessica Kagele, Melissa Kagele, Ian (Marissa) Loudon, Andrew (Bethany) Loudon, Matthew (Sally) Kagele; and two great-grandchildren: Benjamin and Devon.
His brother Richard (Darleen) Kagele; sister-in-laws: Ursula Kagele and Betty Littig; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene in 2009; and son Jack Kagele; three brothers: Jim, Norman and Gene.
Lewis is a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Odessa Lions Club, and Odessa Riders Club.
Graveside Inurnment service, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at the Odessa Cemetery, Odessa, WA, followed by a memorial services at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Odessa, WA, with Pastor Tim Hauge, officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rose Garden Estates for the tender and loving care given to Lewis while he was a resident.
