Term limits the answer
After researching history, I learned most of the founders of this great country didn’t follow a political career. Only 33 of the 55 stayed in the legislative branch after it was formed. They created a system of six years in the Senate of these United States, and two years in the House of Representatives. Effective then, and still is.
We later added the restriction of two terms for the president. This should be the same for Congress. After all, what’s good for the goose should be good for the gander.
These founders were not interested in their own careers or their own pension plans. They only wanted what was best for our country. It isn’t long before new idealistic congressmen and women are pushed into the background by the good ol’ boys’ seniority power.
We must replace the current focus on what we can do for a political party with the immortal words of President John F. Kennedy: “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
In my view, term limits are the salvation of this country’s continued growth and prosperity.
