Obituary: Goodman, Joseph C.
Age 92
He entered into rest May 7, 2014 in Spokane Valley, WA.
A World War II veteran Joe served in the Army Air Corp in Asiatic Pacific Theater where he developed a love for the people and felt God calling him to serve in that area.
He returned from war, attended Biola University and became an ordained minister.
He then served as Pastor at the First American Indian Church of Los Angeles.
In 1953 Joe left with his family for the island of West Borneo, Indonesia where he and Paulene served as missionaries for 41 years.
Always active in church, more recently Joe led a weekly Sunday service at a local retirement community home in Spokane where he taught the word of God and Viola played the piano.
One of Joe’s favorite bible verses can be found in II Corinthians 5: 7-8: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
Survived by his spouse Viola Eden.
Married September 1, 2007.
Joseph is also survived by his children: Dennis and Susan Dyck of Spokane Valley, WA; Mark and Linda Goodman of Victorville, CA; Matthew and Lori Goodman of Spokane Valley, WA; Ed and Sally Mahan of Birmingham, AL.
Joe was blessed with 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephew.
He will be missed by many.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife Paulene.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 5 pm at Valley Fourth Memorial Church, 2303 S. Bowdish Road.
