Sneaked vs. snuck
What has happened to the word “sneaked”? Has it snuck out of our vocabulary?
From Al Roker and “CSI” to many of our local news and weather people, snuck is the word of choice. This also includes a Spokesman-Review columnist and The Slice (Feb. 28).
The burglar snuck into the house. The rain snuck in overnight. The assailant snuck up on the victim. A Spokesman-Review columnist: The deer snuck into the yard. In all cases “sneaked” sounds better to me.
