Huskies top Bulldogs

The 19th-ranked Washington Huskies (17-5-1) used an error to score four unearned runs in the bottom of the third inning and breezed to a 7-1 victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs (9-14) in nonconference baseball action Tuesday in Seattle.

The Huskies have a 14-1 record in their last 15 games with seven straight wins.

Beau Bozett had a RBI double in the eighth inning for Gonzaga.

• The host Whitman Missionaries (13-13-1) swept a nonconference doubleheader over the Whitworth Pirates (6-14) in Walla Walla.

Cameron Young’s three-run homer powered Whitman to a 9-3 win in the opener and Jonny Chow scored on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Missionaries to a 5-4 win.

Men’s golf

The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Idaho Vandals finished tied for 14th place at the Duck Invitational in Creswell, Ore.

Peter Gullickson paced the Bulldogs with an 8-over-par 224 for three rounds. He tied for 25th.

Oregon State won the team title, while Jeremy Paul of Colorado and Jose Mendez of Minnesota tied for medalist honors at 3-under 213.

High school softball

Carli Riordan tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 as University shut out visiting Gonzaga Prep 7-0 in Greater Spokane League play. Riordan also hit a pair of doubles and drove in two runs.
