Floyd C. “Bud”
Malden resident, passed away on March 13, 2014 at Whitman Health and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, WA.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, March 21, 2014 at 2:30PM at Cheney Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 S. Cheney-Spokane Rd., Spokane, WA 99224.
Bud was born in Cheney, WA on June 25, 1930 and moved to Malden in his mid teens with his parents, who ran the grocery store.
He was a Pine City High School graduate in 1948.
He then went on to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he served 22 years.
During his enlistment he served in the Korean War and in the Vietnam War.
He reached the rank of E-8 Master Sergeant, Tank Commander attached to “B” Company, 140th Tank Battalion, 40th Infantry Division.
After retiring in 1972, he fulfilled reserve obligations teaching ROTC at Eastern College.
He was a member of the American Legion in Cusick, WA and a 50 year Mason in the Malden Masonic Lodge.
He also owned and operated a gas station in Rosalia, WA in the early 80’s.
Bud had three children from a previous marriage; then on September 19, 1963 he married the love of his life Charlene L. Tully, in Fort Hood, TX.
They had two children.
In 2005 they celebrated 42 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Charlene Garwood in 2005, his parents C.S.
“Bill” and Leona Garwood, brother Larry Garwood, son Danny Garwood, and his daughter Patricia S. (Garwood) Goodgine.
He is survived by his daughters Brenda Garwood Morris (Mike), Salem, IN, Gloria Garwood Johnosn (Ken) of Pine City, WA, and son Jeffery Garwood (Susan) Cahokia, IL, as well as 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
