Obituary: Brown, Leslie M. “Les”
Age 71
Les was born on March 15, 1943, in Spokane, WA to Leslie Melvin Brown and Agnes (Steele) Brown.
He graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1961.
Les married Arlene Marie Frye on June 23, 1962.
Les started his 26 year career with IBM in San Jose, CA, in 1968, where Les and Arlene joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed as a family in the Oakland Temple.
They moved to Bellevue, WA, in 1972.
Les was a hard worker, which began by standing on a five-gallon bucket and washing dishes in his mom’s restaurant, the Star Grill CafÄ‚Ĺ , on Sprague Avenue.
Les and Arlene were blessed with four children, 19 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Les will be remembered for his competitiveness, storytelling and his vast knowledge.
He loved history, hunting, fishing and watching shows with Arlene.
His true passion was sports.
He influenced many kids over the years through his coaching.
He loved his country and was particularly fond of the Northwest (“God’s Country”).
Les was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Les is survived by his spouse of over 51 years, Arlene; his brother Gary (Iolanda) of Seattle, WA; his children Laura Bailey (Tracey) of Carnation, WA; Les Jr. (Sheralyn) of Provo, UT; Lynn Farias (Ramon) of Spokane, WA and Lanny (Jeana) of Queen Creek, AZ; as well as his 19 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
