Obituary: Solbrack, Ellen Marie
Age 92
She was born to Walter and Marie Feldman September 16, 1921 on the family farm near Plaza, Washington.
She attended Plaza Grade School and Rosalia High School graduating as Valedictorian in 1940.
She attended Cheney Normal (now EWU) for a short time before going to work in Spokane at a photography studio coloring black and white photos.
She lived at the YWCA.
She met Clare Solbrack at a USO dance during WWII.
After the war they married on May 18, 1946.
Her job brought out art talents that she would use to create art projects and decorations of all kinds.
They lived and worked in Spokane for a couple of years before moving to the farm at Plaza.
They had two sons, Tom and Dennis and lived and worked on the farm until retiring and moving to Rosalia in 1988.
In 1996 they moved to Hill Ray Plaza in Colfax.
She was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Tom (Carol) and Dennis (Diane); six grandchildren, Sarah (Solbrack) Birrenkott, Matt Solbrack, Jeff Solbrack, Julie (Solbrack) Stoa, Jill (Solbrack) Nelson and Janet Solbrack.
She is also survived by one great-grandson, Colton Birrenkott; and her sister, JoAnn Scott of Canby, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marilyn Hoffmann; and her husband Clare.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday March 15, 2014 at the Colfax United Methodist Church.
Private burial will be at Evergreen IOOF Cemetery in Rosalia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colfax Methodist Church or the Rosalia Methodist Church.
