NIC set to host prep all-star games
Idaho’s high school basketball season ends this weekend, but a select few will have one more game the following weekend.
The 11th annual Idaho State High School All-Star boys and girls basketball games will be March 15 at North Idaho College.
The event is a doubleheader format with some of the top seniors from around the state playing. The competition begins with the girls game at 1 followed by the boys at 3:30. Also included is a 3-point shooting contest with the girls competing against the boys and a slam-dunk contest.
Players were chosen by a selection committee of sports writers and broadcasters around the state.
Players selected to the North boys are: Justin Carpenter (Coeur d’Alene), Jesse Lambert (Kellogg), Derek Bayley (Lakeland), Kyle Guice, Justin Pratt and JJ Winger (Lake City), Jordan Kauffman (Lewiston), Nick Ellison (Moscow), Corey Koski and Nick Hall (Post Falls), Jeremiah Gagnon (Sandpoint) and Leighton VanderEsch (Salmon River). Alternates are Cameron Woods (Bonners Ferry) and Keegan Scott (Timberlake). Lake City coach Jim Winger was selected coach.
Players selected to the North girls are: Sydney Williams, Sydni Parker and Brittany Tackett (Coeur d’Alene), McKenna Stewart (Kellogg), Kelly Ramus (Lakeland), Madi Farrell and Hailey Jackson (Lake City), Paige Wells (Lewiston), Kyndahl Ulmer (Prairie), Jill Weimer (Priest River), Hailey Olin (Sandpoint) and Jessica Norlander (Timberlake). Alternates are Sarah Chalich (Coeur d’Alene) and Rayla Lohman (Lewiston). Sandpoint coach Bill Bender has been selected coach.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
