Indians defeat Canadians, now 5-0

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Eduard Pinto continued his hot hitting and the Spokane Indians continued winning, moving to 5-0 for the first time in 18 years with a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canadians.

Pinto went 3 for 3 with two RBIs to bump his average this season to .550. He has nine RBIs in five games.

Nick Gardewine (2-0) earned the win, allowing one unearned run on two hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked one. Darrell Hunter followed with one inning of relief, allowing a run on two hits. Andrew Barnett pitched the final three innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.

Luke Tendler’s single in the first inning drove in Pinto, who led off the game with a walk, to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. After the Canadians tied it in the bottom of the inning, Spokane scored two runs in the sixth on Pinto’s two-run double.

Vancouver scored in the bottom of the sixth, cutting the Indians’ lead to 3-2, but Spokane got some breathing room with a two-run eighth. Pinto led off the inning with a single, and scored on Seth Spivey’s single with the help of a throwing error. Spivey later scored on a wild pitch.
