Obituary: Sellers, Dennis Lee “Den”
Born September 21, 1948 in Olympia, WA to James and Ruth (Wadsack) Sellers.
Den was the second of six children.
His parents soon relocated to Yakima, WA.
Den graduated from Marquette High School, Yakima, WA, 1966.
In April of 1967, he enlisted in U.S. Coast Guard serving aboard the Wachusett.
He married his high school sweetheart (Linda McGuffey), December 16, 1967.
Had sons, Craig and Jason.
Serving aboard, as a Gunner’s mate, off the coast of Vietnam.
Den was awarded several medals including the Vietnam Campaign, National Defense Service, Vietnam Service and the Bronze Star.
After Vietnam, Den was assigned to the Westport WA, Coast Guard Station and completed his service.
He developed a love for boats, fishing and the ocean.
After his discharge, he stayed in Westport and the family bought two charter boats.
Den became owner/operator.
In the fall of 1971, Den and Linda returned to Yakima, where he attended YVCC and employed by NW Equipment Company.
He later moved to Spokane Valley, worked for Seco and finally Modern Machinery.
After retirement, he spent time with his family, fishing, hunting and wood cutting with friends.
Survived by his soul mate of 51 years, Linda Sellers, son Craig, brother Joe (Jody) all of Spokane Valley, WA.
Survivors in Yakima, WA are his mother Ruth and brothers: Richard, Ken (Olga); sister Patty (Cary) Ferguson of Selah.
Preceded in death: son Jason, father James and brother Ron.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held on August 9th, at 1-5:00pm.
