“MANHATTAN”: This gripping and provocative new drama series is set in Los Alamos, N.M., against the backdrop of the clandestine mission to build the world’s first atomic bomb. John Benjamin Hickey (“The Big C”) shines as a self-destructive physics professor who is recruited to help lead the Manhattan Project and finds himself living in a world where secrets and lies infiltrate all aspects of everyday life. 6 and 9 p.m. Tonight, WGN America.

tonight: David Suchet begins his final episodes as “Hercule Poirot” in the popular “Masterpiece Mystery!” series. Tonight, the master sleuth navigates international intrigues while investigating the shocking death of a Russian chess grandmaster. 8 p.m., KSPS; 9 p.m. KCDT.

TONIGHT: The excellent second season of “Masters of Sex” continues with an episode that has Virginia (Lizzy Caplan) learning about Masters’ (Michael Sheen) troubled childhood during a secret rendezvous at a hotel. 10 p.m., Showtime.

MONDAY: It’s decision time for Andi on “The Bachelorette” as she goes on her final dates with Nick and Josh. Is there a wedding in her future? Or heartbreak … or both? 8 p.m., ABC.

TUESDAY: “Losing Iraq” is a 90-minute “Frontline” that takes an in-depth look at the war we left behind and the crisis that has erupted since. 9 p.m., KSPS; 10 p.m., KCDT.

TUESDAY: “Dark Horse Nation” is a new reality series that follows the day-to-day adventures of the Dark Horse Brewing Co., where they combine great craft beer with innovation and a renegade approach to business. 10 p.m., History Channel.

WEDNESDAY: On the summer series “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” aspiring magicians try to baffle the veteran duo with a single trick. If neither Penn nor Teller is able to explain how the trick is done, the contestants win a spot in their Las Vegas show. 8 p.m., The CW.

WEDNESDAY: Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water (or take a stroll in Times Square), here comes “Sharknado 2: The Second One.” It’s the sequel to the low budget flick that whipped up a surprise social media storm last summer. 9 p.m., Syfy.

THURSDAY: “The Honorable Woman” is a fast-paced thriller about an Anglo-Israeli daughter (Maggie Gyllenhaal) of an assassinated Zionist arms dealer who seeks to right the wrongs of her family’s past. She ignites an international political maelstrom in the process. 10 p.m., Sundance.

FRIDAY: “Masters of Illusion” will attempt to whip up some ratings magic. It’s a glitzy showcase of comedic tricks, daring escapes, grand illusions and more. 8 p.m., The CW.

SATURDAY: The Western drama “Hell on Wheels” rolls into its fourth season. As the saga continues, civilization makes its way west with the railroad, bringing men who attempt to do with their pens what rougher guys previously did with their guns. 9 p.m. AMC.
