Obituary: Stanek, Frank C.
Age 77
He was born to Frank W. and Helen Stanek in Spokane on February 1st, 1937.
Frank attended Sacred Heart Grade School.
He graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory High School and attended College of Idaho afterwards with a football scholarship.
He returned home to be with Charm, the beauty of his life, and they married September 1st, 1956.
Frank went to work for the SI Railroad as a switchman at night and helped his father in the nursery business during the day.
He eventually left the railroad to devote more time to the family business; meanwhile, Charm and Frank’s immediate family continued to grow.
Frank labored hard at the family business as well as at building and remodeling their homes.
At that time, a great joy and hobby for him was farming and raising calves.
Later in life he enjoyed camping with their RV group (The Happy Campers), golfing with his buddies, and vacationing in Hawaii.
Frank was very proud of and took great pleasure in a large family.
They always looked forward to Grandpa’s story- telling, his recounting of life events, and especially his version of “The Cat Story.”
The family all enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa at their home on the St. Joe River, where they all were able to spend his last days with him.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. and Helen Stanek, brother Larry, and Baby Thomas.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of grace and strength, Charm, loving son Frank E. (Leah), devoted daughters Michelle (Scott), Suzette (Andy), Sherri (John), Valerie (Mike), and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
All through Frank’s life and illness he was a firm believer in God and that He takes care of all of everything and us.
This brings the family peace in knowing that God is taking care of him, and that he is finally at rest.
Memorial Mass will be Friday, July 25th at 11:00 am at St. Peters Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your charity of choice or Hospice of Benewah County.
