Kudos for Kuney nod

Thank you for your excellent endorsement (July 18) of Mary Kuney for Spokane County treasurer. Your column was measured, balanced and rational in its evaluation of Kuney’s skill, experience and competence for serving as a fiduciary for the county and its taxpayers.

Frequently, in the conflicts between reason on the one hand and political interests on the other, politics dominates. Your focus on the substantive needs of the county and your endorsement of Kuney draws voters’ attention to the only thing that matters: the most appropriate person for the job. Kuney is that person.
