Santa Cruz shooting details

A story that ran on page A1 Sunday included unconfirmed details of an officer-involved shooting in California that have since been clarified by an official report. Andy Lopez, 13, was carrying a replica firearm while walking to a friend’s house and ignored commands to disarm when he was shot and killed in Santa Cruz in October, according to a report from prosecutors released last week. Sheriff’s deputy Erick Gelhaus will not be criminally charged in the case.
