Obituary: Wright, Dorothy (Mcgowan)

Age 84

WRIGHT, Dorothy (McGowan) 1929-2014 Passed away at her Seattle home on February 19th.

Born in Oklahoma City, Dorothy also lived in San Francisco as a girl, attending St. Monica’s Elementary.

Her family moved to Salt Lake City where Dorothy studied at St. Mary’s of the Wasatch High School.

She was the first co-ed enrolled at Gonzaga University and spent many ensuing years in Spokane.

She served as a records researcher at Fred Hutchinson Memorial Hospital in Seattle.

Dorothy was a gifted pianist and loved music, travel, literature, and spending time with her eight children, twenty grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Predeceasing Dorothy were her children Terrie and Timothy and her grandson, Kristopher.

She is survived by her daughters, Michele (Ira Joe) Fisher, JoAnn (Dave) Schauf, Kay Wright McGlocklin; sons Daniel Wright, Robert Wright, and Lawrence Wright; a sister Barbara Ann (Dick) Redinger, and a brother John McGowan.

A memorial Mass will celebrate her life on July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church (4th and Adams) in the Spokane Valley.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy’s family - at her request - asks that donations be made to the Friends of the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Avenue West, Lynnwood, Washington 98036.
