Obituary: Walt, Patricia P. (Gamble)

WALT, Patricia P. (Gamble) (Age 84) Patricia entered into rest Sunday, June 29, 2014.

She was born in Spokane, WA October 2, 1929 to Hubert and Hazel Gamble.

Survivors include her son; Gary R. Walt (Erika) and daughter; Debra M. Walt, three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Jerrold Walt (Mary) and Ben Tipke and numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Hubert Gamble (1964) and Hazel Gamble (1975), brothers; Hubert Gamble (1997), Gordon Gamble (1984) and husband; Richard A. Walt (2012).

Pat grew up in the Hillyard area and attended Hillyard grade schools and graduated from John Rogers High School.

She worked at Fonk’s 5 & Dime Store (candy counter) and after graduation went to work at Kaiser Trentwood as a secretary.

Pat married Richard “Dick” A. Walt in 1947 and was married for 64 years until his death in 2012.

Pat and Dick loved traveling to see their grandchildren in California, Virginia, Arizona, Hawaii, and Okinawa, wherever the grandchildren’s father, Gary, was stationed.

They also went on a cruise to Alaska, and enjoyed trying their luck at the slots in Reno and Las Vegas and area casinos.

Pat and Dick enjoyed having get-togethers with family at holidays and at Spirit Lake where they had a trailer for 10 years.

After having children Pat went to back to work at the Retail Clerks Union where she worked for many years.

Pat was a Cub Scout leader, a Bluebird and Camp Fire Girls leader, PTA president at Cooper Grade School, and taught Sunday School class at Hillyard Methodist Church.

She was very involved in her children’s lives.

She loved children.

Pat was little (4‘11 äť–”) but had a big spirit and was a fighter.

She was a little leprechaun!

She always had a smile, a joke, or funny comment for everyone.

She will be greatly missed!

The family extends grateful thanks to the ER Staff and Dr’s Lang and Shafer and the nurses and therapists at Providence Holy Family Hospital for their great care for Mom.

You were wonderful!

Also, a BIG THANK YOU to Dr. Vanderbosch and the staff at Avalon Care Center at Northpointe for their exceptional care for Mom.

A Memorial Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, July 8th, 11:00am at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, WA.

A visitation is scheduled from 2:00-6:00p.m., Monday, July 7th, at Hazen & Jaeger, 1306 N Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
