Obituary: Widmer, Rosella “Rose”
Rose was born in Vine Grove, KY, and was born fourth of ten children.
Rose grew up on a small farm in the 1920’s and was assigned to help her dad and brothers maintain the farmland and care for the animals.
When Rose turned 24 years old she married her late husband William Widmer, who pursued a career in the Navy and trained to be an electrician.
Rose and William moved from Kentucky in the 1940’s and settled in Spokane in 1945, with a four year old son.
By 1953, Rose and William had six children, who all went to St. Patrick’s School.
Rose was committed to St. Patrick’s Parish as a faithful parishioner.

Rose served as a retreat captain for St. Pat’s for seven years promoting retreats.
In 1973, Rose was 57 years old and went to work in food service.
She worked for 25 years at the Immaculate Heart Retreat House and loved it.
Rose had a sweet smile that warmed the heart, and she had one for everybody.
Many people commented about her beautiful smile; it was her trademark.
Rose will be dearly missed.
