Obituary: Peltier, Rose Marie
Rose was the 8th of 9 children born to the late Ferdinand and Anna Oswald on February 10, 1926.
She grew up in North Spokane and attended public school through the 8th grade.
At the early age of 19, Rose was married to Bob Dawson and had one child, Gary Robert.
On New Year’s Eve of 1947, Rose married Dave Florin and eventually had three children together; Daniel Michael in 1948, Steven David in 1954, who survived only two weeks, and Timothy Wayne in 1955.
Their marriage ended in 1960 and Rose married Lloyd Peltier in 1970.
After Lloyd’s passing due to Alzheimer’s disease, Rose met Howard McIntosh in 1995 and they enjoyed each other’s company until her passing.
Rose was a housewife most of her life but did work as a waitress, hotel maid, and in janitorial services for American Building Maintenance, Co. from 1981 to 1988.
She traveled to many places around the United States and throughout Europe, but her favorite destination was Germany, where she researched her family tree.
Her other interests included collecting dolls, bowling, crocheting, and caring for her beloved dogs.
She also loved her children and spending time with them.
During the last years of her life, she enjoyed the activities and people at the Mid-City Senior Center and traveling around the Northwest to places such as Glacier National Park, Reno, Nevada and Seattle to visit family.
Rose was survived by her three sons; Gary Robert Florin, Daniel Michael Florin, and Timothy Wayne Florin, all from Spokane, Washington.
She also is survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Rose also had a special place in her heart for her companion of almost 20 years, Howard McIntosh and her cherished dog, Sitka.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Mid-City Senior Center or Spokane Humane Society.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2:30 on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Riverside Cemetery.
