Obituary: Mandick, Mile M.

MANDICK, Mile M. Mile entered into peace on January 31, 2014 surrounded by his family.

He was born November 24th in Seattle, WA, the son of Mile and Gertrude (Doggett) Mandick.

Mile grew up and lived most of his life in Spokane.

He was a graduate of North Central High School.

After high school, Mile joined the US Navy and served in the Medical/Dental Corps until discharged in 1946.

Upon returning home from the Navy, Mile went to work in the automotive parts business, eventually becoming a district manager for Pay ‘n Pak stores.

Mile and his wife of 62 years, Shirley, loved camping, dancing, skiing, motorhoming, watching the Zags and spending time with grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons, Michael (Allyson) Mandick of University Place, WA, Gary (Cheryl) Mandick, and Greg (Joanne) Mandick, and daughter Karen (Steve) Wilcox, all of Spokane; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sister and best friend (BFF) Nedra Sullivan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Shirley; lifelong friends and fellow members of the “Greatest Generation,” Bob, Dale, Harold, Sully and too many more to mention (these guys could do anything).

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11am and will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W. St. Thomas More Way, Spokane.

Committal will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane, WA.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff at Northpointe Retirement Community where Mile lived for eight years, and Hospice House of Spokane for the wonderful care given Mile in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Spokane, P.O.
