GSL girls: Ferris cruises past Shadle Park
Fresh off their upset win earlier in the week, the Ferris girls basketball team kept things rolling Friday.
The Saxons threw a shutout in the first quarter, outscoring the host Shadle Park Highlanders 19-0 as Ferris cruised to a 71-42 win in Greater Spokane League action.
Ferris, which made nine 3-pointers, climbed to the .500 mark overall (8-8) and in league (7-7).
Kaley Lenhart scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Saxons. Bria Bowton added 15, Jill Louthian 12 and Brittney Johnson 10.
Shalise Hicks led Shadle (5-11, 5-10) with 15 points and Shyla Carr had 12.
Gonzaga Prep 69, North Central 35: The visiting Bullpups (15-1, 14-0) raced to a 38-15 halftime lead. Hannah Caudill led with 17 points, Otiona Gildon had 15 and Laura Stockton added 13. NC played again without injured Brianna King, the second-leading scorer in the league. She’s expected back next week. Lauren Hare led NC with 14 points.
Lewis and Clark 68, Rogers 35: Janieva Bates made six 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 24 points to lead the Tigers (11-5, 10-4) over the host Pirates (0-16, 0-14). Riley Lupfer added 14 for LC. Mercedes Rucker led Rogers with 10. The win kept LC a game behind second place Central Valley.
Mead 70, Mt. Spokane 50: The Panthers (11-5, 10-4) shot 60 percent from the field as they opened a 42-24 lead by halftime over the visiting Wildcats (7-9, 6-8). Sue Winger led Mead with 22 points, Delany Junkermier had 21 and Ashlyn Lewey added 15. Ashlee Pedersen led Mt. Spokane with 23 points and Dallas Flager added 17. Mead finished with 11 steals and five blocked shots. The Panthers remained tied for third with LC.
