Obituary: Schreffler, Karen (Holmes)
Born to William and Isabel Holmes on August 4, 1941 in Great Falls, Montana, Karen was the eldest of eight children and learned early on the value of family.
“Above everything else in life, my husband and family were most important.”
She loved kidding with her immediate and extended family, teaching the children how to cook, cautiously picking huckleberries (always a stick in hand to ward off bears), and what grandma do you know who loves to go kayaking!
She thrilled in traveling with her loved ones, but especially her husband David, married for 53 years!
She cared greatly for others and hoped to be remembered for trying to do anything she could to help people, particularly those in pain.
And she will!
She shared in the ownership and management of Spokane’s Comfort Keepers and was an active deacon in the ministry of Whitworth Presbyterian Church.
In addition to David, Karen is survived by her children Kim Conklin, Lisa Markham and her husband Craig, and David “Rusty” Schreffler, Jr., and his wife Maizy.
She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Bryan (Spouse Angela), Holli (Spouse Tim), Cody, Mikhaila, Maikenzy, and Chandler.
Plus her three great-grandchildren: Alexis, Sofia, and Charlotte.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Monday, December 15, 2014 at Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Road.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Cancer Society and the Westminster Food Bank.
