Obituary: Davidson, Charles Marvin
Age 93
Charles (or Marvin as he was known by family members) enjoyed a full and healthy 93 years of life living in his own home until this month when he moved to Stillwaters Adult Home.
Many thanks to Comfort Keepers and all the private caregivers who so lovingly cared for him through the years.
Charles was born on October 11, 1920 to Charles and Lettie Davidson at the family home near Troy, Idaho and graduated from Troy High School in 1939.
He then completed a one-year training in airplane radio and worked at Geiger.
When his draft notice arrived for World War II, he took the initiative and enlisted in the Army requesting radio or radar specialty.
The Army sent him to four different schools in the US for a year, then he was deployed to a bomber base in England until the end of the war.
Following the war, he worked for his Uncle Walt building houses in Spokane at which time he was introduced to his neighbor Illa.
It was attraction at first sight for both of them, and in 1946 they married.
They welcomed their baby daughter Donna Marie into their home in 1947.
All who know Charles will remember his quick wit and jokes.
He was famous for saying that “he couldn’t see out of one eye and was half blind in the other” yet retired as a quality inspector with Kaiser Aluminum in 1980.
In retirement, he enjoyed many years with his family at their cabin at Bayview.
He was a skilled craftsman in woodworking and loved gardening.
Charles is survived by his sister Bernice Hoseid; sisters-in-law Betty Davisson and Grace Davidson, numerous nieces and nephews, and his special friend Donna Pollei.
The funeral service will be held on September 4 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Society Community Center, 17121 E. 8th Ave.
