Obituary: Mchenry, Betty M.

McHENRY, Betty M. Betty was born February 1, 1922 to Cordelia and Robert Lee Tolliver.

The family resided in Spokane but within a few years moved to the Spokane Valley where she attended Opportunity Grade School and Central Valley High School.

She graduated in the class of 1942.

After graduation she worked for the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company followed by employment at the Millwood Kaiser Defense Plant during the war.

Betty married Delbert S. McHenry in 1943.

In 1947 the family of four moved to Liberty Lake.

Delbert and Betty developed the Liberty Lake Water and Sewer Company.

Betty was active in the “Garden Gals” and community service such as United Way and the Boy Scouts.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sports and travel.

While she was primarily a homemaker, she worked as a realtor for Anthony Baker and Burns.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters (Francis, Charlotte, Dorothy), brother (Byron), her youngest son (Bruce Robert) and husband (Delbert).

She is survived by her eldest son (Delbert Jr.) and daughter-in-laws (Darlene) and Bruce’s widow (Mary-Lou), three grandchildren (Heath, Erica and Shaun) and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She passed away after a lengthy illness on July 31st at the Life Care Center of Post Falls.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4-8pm and a visitation on Saturday August 9, 2014 from 9-9:40am at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 10am at Pines Cemetery.
