Obituary: Detlaff, Eric Lane
Early in Eric’s life he attended Mead Sr. High School, then moved on to the Job Corps where he learned the welding trade along with the completion of his G.E.D.
tests.
Coming back from Job Corps Eric moved north of Mead, back to his childhood home.
Eventually he became restless and got an opportunity and moved to Seattle in 2002.
Starting out on his own Eric worked long days on a roofing crew.
Hard work and decent pay suited Eric for a while, and he was content to stay there close to family and enjoy life in the big city.
Eric finally knew freedom, but also the many hardships that come with being an adult.
From Seattle Eric traveled around the west landing briefly in Oregon and sunny Phoenix, but eventually coming back to Spokane to settle down with his family.
Getting to see Eric on holidays and birthdays was common and the stories he brought from his travels were always entertaining.
Eric loved life, he definitely loved his music, but most of all Eric unconditionally loved his family.
He was a bright light in our lives and we truly miss his constant smile, laughter and love.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 4 pm.
