Golf: Sergio Garcia still has a three-shot lead in the Bridgestone Invitational. It just doesn’t feel that big.

Garcia had a six-shot lead at one point Saturday until he made his first bogey in 38 holes and wound up with a 3-under 67. Rory McIlroy made a late charge, closing with back-to-back birdies for the second straight day and shooting a 66.

They will be in the final pairing Sunday at this World Golf Championship, a renewal of sorts from the final round at the British Open. McIlroy had a big lead at Hoylake. Now it’s Garcia’s turn to see if he can hold on at Firestone in Akron, Ohio.

Garcia was at 14-under 196.

Defending champion Tiger Woods had a 72 and was 15 shots out of the lead.

• Perry grabs 3M lead: Kenny Perry eagled the last hole after waiting out a thunderstorm to take a one-shot lead after the second round of the Champions Tour’s 3M Championship.

Perry shot a 9-under 63 to reach 16-under 128 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

The six-time senior winner birdied the par-3 17th and was on the green on the par-5 18th when play was stopped for the thunderstorm. After a two-hour delay, he made the 8-foot eagle putt.

First-round leader Marco Dawson was second after a 66.

Bernhard Langer, Gary Hallberg, Jeff Maggert and Gene Sauers were 13 under. Former Pullman resident Kirk Triplett shot a 66 and is at -11.

• Ogilvey leads in Reno: Geoff Ogilvy got up-and-down for birdie from a greenside bunker on the par-5 closing hole to take a three-stroke lead in the Barracuda Championship in Reno, Nevada.

Nick Watney, the leader after each of the first two rounds, was tied for second with Jason Allred.

Lampard loaned to EPL’s Man. City

Soccer: Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is returning to the English Premier League with Manchester City on a six-month loan from MLS expansion team New York City FC.

Lampard signed a two-year contact with the New York club – owned by Manchester City and the New York Yankees – last month. The MLS team is scheduled to begin play next year.

The 36-year-old Lampard is Chelsea’s career goals leader.

• MLS makes All-Star changes : Galaxy forward Robbie Keane and defender Omar Gonzalez, as well as Seattle Sounders defender Chad Marshall, have pulled out of the Major League Soccer All-Star game against Bayern Munich.

The trio will be replaced by D.C. United defenders Bobby Boswell and Sean Franklin, as well as Philadelphia Union midfielders Maurice Edu. The All-Star match is set for Wednesday night in Portland, Oregon.

Bolt boosts Jamaica at Commonwealths

Track and Field: On a wet track following torrential rain, Usain Bolt gave the Commonwealth Games a display of showmanship and speed as he anchored Jamaica’s 4x100-meter relay team to gold and glory in Glasgow, Scotland.

Jamaica raced ahead of England in a games-record 37.58 seconds as the six-time Olympic gold medalist became a Commonwealth champion for the first time, enhancing the status of an event that can appear an anachronism in the modern world.

Jamaica’s women also won their sprint relay, with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce running the final leg as the women’s team won in 41.83 seconds.

Canadians advance at Citi Open

Tennis: Second-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada reached his first final of the season by beating Donald Young of the United States 6-4, 7-5 at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C.

Raonic will face fellow Canadian 13th-seeded Vasek Pospisil in the final after Pospisil beat Richard Gasquet 6-7 (5), 6-3, 5-5 in the other semifinal.

This is the first time in the Open era (since 1968) that two Canadian men will meet in a final.

In the women’s final, two-time major champion Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia will face Kurumi Nara of Japan. Kuznetsova beat Ekaterina Makarova 6-3, 6-2, while Nara came back after dropping the first eight games to defeat Marina Erakovic 0-6, 6-4, 6-4.
