Doctors say Paul George faces long rehab process
Indiana Pacers forward Paul George’s recovery from a gruesome leg injury could take a year or more, doctors say. One day after the two-time All-Star suffered an open tibia-fibula fracture on his right leg during a USA Basketball intrasquad scrimmage in Las Vegas, the questions began in earnest about George’s recovery. George said he was resting comfortably Saturday morning following surgery. Dr. James Gladstone, an orthopedic surgeon who is not treating George, called that a good sign. Gladstone said athletes with this type of injury normally take nine to 12 months to recover, though another doctor said it could take George up to 18 months to completely regain his form. The Pacers, who would not establish a time table for George’s return, hope the 24-year-old can return to Indy next week. – AP
