Obituary: Loeffler, William J. “Jack”
Age 86
“Jack” 1928-2014 Jack Loeffler, 86, formally of Nine Mile Falls, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the evening of April 24, 2014, in Othello, WA.
The youngest of four brothers, Jack was born April 28, 1928 in Oakland, California.
In 1944, at the age of 16, Jack joined the United States Merchant Marines, serving as a helmsman onboard Liberty and Victory ships in the Pacific during World War II.
Jack married Pauline Valenzuela on March 10, 1948.
Jack and Pauline made Santa Rosa, California home where they raised their three children, Michael, Renee, and Rhonda.
Jack worked most of his life as a truck driver, hauling everything from jet fuel to lumber and groceries throughout California.
Retiring in 1983, wanting to live near their children and grand children, Jack and Pauline moved to Washington State where together they enjoyed 31 years of retirement amongst family and friends.
Jack enjoyed cooking on his grill, boating, working in his shop and yard and rooting for his Seattle Seahawks.
In February 2014, Jack was overjoyed when his dream of a Seahawks Super Bowl win was finally realized.
Jack is survived by Pauline, his beloved wife of 66 years; three children, seven grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A life well lived, Jack was true to himself, made friends everywhere and was always eager to help a neighbor in need.
He will be dearly missed by all he leaves behind.
