Obituary: Apodaca, Estaban Alejandro (Alex)

Age 34

APODACA, Esteban Alejandro “Alex” (Age 34) Esteban Alejandro Apodaca (Alex), 34, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 in Spokane Valley, WA.

He was born on February 10, 1980 in Yakima, WA, to Steve Apodaca and Idalia Mendez.

Alex grew up in Spokane Valley, WA.

He graduated from University High School in 1998.

After high school he attended Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA, where he received a bachelor degree in Business and Finance.

After graduation he worked in the banking industry as a loan officer specializing in small business and mortgage loans to the present time.

He married his high school sweetheart Angela Decker.

Their daughter Sierra Maria Apodaca was born on February 24, 2000.

Alex had a natural talent for easily making friends and winning people over with his sincere charm and warm, contagious smile.

He had an immense zest for life that included spending quality time with family and friends.

Alex was a devoted father to his “Princess,” Sierra, and enthusiastically supported her participation in a variety of team sports and other activities.

Together they followed their favorite teams and loved to attend games whenever possible.

Alex was always the life of the party and had a positive impact on the countless lives of all those who knew him.

He will be dearly missed, but has an eternal home in all our hearts.

Alex is survived by his daughter, Sierra Maria Apodaca of Spokane Valley, WA; his father, Steve Apodaca, of Spokane Valley, WA; his mother, Idalia Mendez Shuman of Topeka, KS; his brother, Matthew Mendez of Seattle, WA; his sisters, Vanessa Apodaca of Los Angeles, CA, and Amanda Apodaca of Spokane Valley, WA.

He is also survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley April 22, 2014.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 - 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm.

A memorial service will be held at St. John Vianney, 503 N. Walnut Rd., Spokane Valley at 12:30 pm on April 23, 2014.

Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA.

Following the burial, a reception will be held at the hall of St. John Vianney.
