No charges recommended in Zillmer shooting
No charges have been recommended by investigators in the officer involved shooting of 23-year-old Jedadiah Zillmer, 23, near the Spokane Valley Mall on Feb. 11. The case has been forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
Zillmer, who served in Afghanistan in the U.S. Army, told dispatchers that night that he wanted police to shoot him. He led police from multiple agencies on a high speed chase from Spokane to Idaho and back. Three guns were found in his possession, according to court documents.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies that fired on Zillmer are Brian Hirzel, Jeff Thurman, Dale Moyer, Ryan Walter, Brett Hubbell and Randy Watts.
The Spokane Investigative Regional Response Team investigation was led by the Spokane Police Department.
