Obituary: Prouty, Darl D.

Age 84

PROUTY, Darl D. Darl D. Prouty passed away peacefully on April 2, 2014 after recently being diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Darl was born May 28, 1929 in Lynden, Washington to Wallace and Dorothy Prouty, the middle child between two sisters, Darlene and Mickey.

The Family moved to Colfax, Washington, where they owned and operated the Colfax Dairy Products.

Darl worked for the creamery, making ice cream and delivering milk.

Darl graduated from High School in Colfax where he met his future wife, June.

He joined the Army National Guard, serving as a Rifleman from 1948 - 1952, and as a supply sergeant from 1952 - 1955.

Darl was married to June Rae Anderson on May 28, 1950, their daughter Sharon was born in 1953 and their son Darren was born in 1963.

Darl and his family lived in Colfax where he worked in the dairy related business until 1963.

He then moved his family to Spokane where he started a new endeavor repairing boat propellers as the owner of Precision Propeller.

This evolved into a life of pure dedication, hard work, growth, success and water related recreation, which he enjoyed throughout his life.

When he wasn’t at Precision Propeller Company he enjoyed boating, working out to maintain his physical fitness.

He was a sun worshiper and enjoyed being on the command bridge of his 26’ Tolley cruising Coeur D’Alene Lake, as well as his annual vacations to Mazatl犧」犧], Mexico.

In 1994 Darl lost his wife of 44 years.

Darl was a committed Rotarian, member of the Spokane Yacht Club, Maverick Yacht Club, Greater Hillyard Business Association, National Marine Propeller Association and the Glenrose Community Association.

In 1995 Darl was introduced to Linda Huntley.

They were married in April of 2000.

Darl and Linda were members of the Spokane Corvette Club and served on the board of Morning Star Boys Ranch for eight years.

They enjoyed cruises, Corvette runs, vacations to Mazatl犧」犧], working together to maintain their beautiful home and property, and the Akitas, KoKo and Kobi.

Darl is survived by his spouse, Linda Prouty; his children: Sharon (Paul) Prouty-Hall and Darren (Carolyn) Prouty; Linda’s children: Tom (Heather) Weed and Amy (Nick) Englehart; grandchildren: Laci (Joe) Weber, Destini Prouty, Colton (Chelsea) Watson, Christine Watson, Jacob Weed and Jacob Bidwell; great-grandchildren: Charleece Watson and Jude Weber; sister, Mickey Ricketts; sister-in-law, Julie Durall along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his Mexican family and friends.

He was preceded in death by spouse, June R. Prouty; both of his parents: Wallace and Dorothy Prouty; sister, Darlene Cauldrey and nephew, Scott Pate.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Morning Star Boy’s Ranch; 4511 S. Glenrose, Spokane, WA with a reception immediately following the service.

A private Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Darl’s name to the Morning Star Boy’s Ranch.
