ELDER, W. Scott At his request no public service will be held for former Garfield resident William Scott Elder, 62.

Scott Elder died Friday, March 28, 2014, at St. Helena Hospital in Angwin, CA., from complications following a lengthy battle with cancer of the esophagus.

Scott was predeceased by his parents, Theodore “Ted” and Marjorie (Hensle) Elder; and nephew, Jade Slavick.

Survivors include his wife, Becky, at the Clearlake, Calif., home; his siblings, Joan (Peg) Elder-Taylor, Colfax; Susan Botts, Snohomish; Sarah (Sally) Elder, Garfield; Dana Elder, Colfax, and Ben Elder, Colbert; several nephews and nieces, and great-nephews and nieces.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
