Around the Remote: ‘Game of Thrones’ ready for action

Chuck Barney Mcclatchy-Tribune

Don’t miss

“GAME OF THRONES”: Let the Game begin. The horrific events of last year’s Red Wedding figure to cast an ominous shadow over Season 4 of the fantasy epic. Now Arya (Maisie Williams) and what’s left of the Stark family are vowing bloody revenge on the Lannisters, who are preparing to marry off bratty king Joffrey (Jack Gleeson). Meanwhile, Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and her army continue their slow-but-steady march through the desert. And the saga, like Dany’s dragons, is bigger and badder than ever. 9 p.m. Sunday, HBO.

Other bets

SUNDAY: Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan return as hosts of the 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards because, lord knows, these singers don’t have enough trophies. Among the performers are Jason Aldean, Toby Keith, George Strait and – huh? – Stevie Nicks. 8 p.m., CBS.

SUNDAY: “Turn” is a new drama about American spies during the Revolutionary War. You probably never heard of these guys, but without them we might not be shooting off firecrackers every Fourth of July. 9 p.m., AMC.

SUNDAY: Can computer geeks make us laugh? We’re about to find out with “Silicon Valley,” a new tech-centric comedy from Mike Judge (“King of the Hill”). It premieres right before the Season 3 premiere of “Veep.” 10 p.m., HBO.

MONDAY: It’s been a scary, loony ride, but “Being Human,” the show about supernatural roommates, ends it all tonight. In the finale, Sally (Meaghan Rath) is desperate to keep her vision of Aidan (Sam Witwer) killing Josh (Sam Huntington) from coming true. 9 p.m., Syfy.

MONDAY: After weeks of gasp-inducing, buzzer-beating, bracket-busting action, the NCAA Basketball Tournament all comes down to tonight’s final. Who will have that one shining moment? 6 p.m., CBS.

TUESDAY: “Justified” brings another stellar season to a close tonight as Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) has one last chance to take down Art’s (Nick Searcy) would-be assassin. We think someone may be eating Crowe when it’s all over. 10 p.m., FX.

WEDNESDAY: “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” has explored lots of icky fetishes, but things get really tasteless tonight when the team tries to hunt down a killer who eats his victims. Bon appetit? 10 p.m., CBS.

THURSDAY: Mork (Robin Williams) and Mindy (Pam Dawber) are back together again! The old pals reunite on “The Crazy Ones” – nearly 32 years after their 1970s sitcom ended, to which we say, “Na-nu na-nu.” 9:31 p.m., CBS.

FRIDAY: “Unforgettable” didn’t slip your mind, did it? Carrie (Poppy Montgomery) is back and about to nab an assassin who has critical information that could prevent a terrorist attack. You go, Carrie. 8 p.m., CBS.

SATURDAY: The sci-fi cult fave, “Orphan Black,” is poised to break out big in Season 2. To help you get with the program, we’ve got “Orphan Back: The Cloneversation.” Cast members, including Tatiana Maslany, discuss the new episodes. 5 p.m., BBC America.
