Obituary: Nielsen, Vernon
Age 86
He passed away peacefully on November 13, 2013.
Raised on farms in South Dakota and Harrison, ID, Vern made Spokane Valley his home for the past 54 years.
He married the love of his life, Wanda, on April 29, 1967.
After a tour in the Marines, he worked at various jobs until he became a baker by trade.
He worked for Boge’s Bakery until his retirement in 1984.
Vern and Wanda spent many winters living in Arizona, traveling the southwest and in September, 2000 they made the trip of a lifetime, visiting Denmark, his family’s homeland.
Vern was happiest searching for wood and tools for his shop, creating bowls in his shop, watching TV in his shop, fixing things in his shop.
Vern just loved his shop.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and daughter, Tanya.
Survived by his wife, Wanda; stepsons, Jim (Chris) Wigginton Spokane, WA and Dale Wigginton Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Toni (Jamie) Lagoy, Vernie and Jeff Dittner all of Smelterville, ID; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will take place at 1 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Pines Mausoleum, 1402 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Spokane.
