Obituary: Marks, Virginia

Age 72

MARKS, Virginia Virginia Marks passed away peacefully on October 18 after a long fight with numerous medical con-ditions.

Born April 6, 1941 in Wetumka, AL to CJ “Boot” and Inez Collins, and later attended the University of Alabama where she would meet her future husband, Hartwell Marks.

She was married in 1966 and in 1968 she packed up a U-Haul and followed it all the way across country to Spokane.

Following the birth of her son Lee in 1974, Virginia changed her focus and became heavily involved with volunteering at her son’s school, a Cub Scout leader, not to mention a soccer mom.

In later years she returned to the work force and worked many years as a bookkeeper for several real estate firms in the area including 18 years with Exit Real Estate Professionals which became a close family to her following the death of her husband in 2005.

Virginia is survived by her son, Lee Marks of Spokane; one brother, Don (Deborah) Collins of Wetumpka AL; a great-uncle, Edward Nation of Birmingham AL, along with many close friends.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, November 2, 2:00 p.m. at St. David’s Episcopal Church located at 7315 N Wall.
