Shooting suspect caught in north Spokane

Tillery
The man accused of killing another at a north Spokane home last week is in Spokane Police custody. Joshua T. Tillery, 33, was located at 2012 N. Ruby Wednesday, according to the Spokane Police Department. He’s accused of shooting 33-year-old Devon Mack in the head Friday, killing him. Detectives learned today the suspect was there, quickly surrounded the home along with U.S. Marshal’s deputies, and apprehended Tillery. The suspect surrendered peacefully, Spokane Police Lt. Scott Mullennix said. Detectives detained two others and are interviewing them. They face possible charges of rendering criminal assistance for Tillery, he added. U.S. Marshals told employees at Just Roses Plus, a flower business neighboring the house, Wednesday morning their agents were watching the home. “We didn’t really expect anything to happen – all of a sudden everything swarmed in,” Linda Gump said. Gump called the house a “real trouble house.” Her colleagues frequently see police activity at the house. Police had been looking for Tillery since Friday after an argument at 4508 N. Lincoln Street turned deadly. Police believe Tillery shot Mack in the head. A roommate, identified as Tara Rader, was sought by police over the weekend. They released a description for a vehicle used to transport Rader and apparently Tillery to the Lincoln address from the grocery store. Tillery, who goes by “Danger” and sports a full collar of neck tattoos, walked into the home with groceries and set them on the kitchen floor, according to court documents. Mack and Tillery reportedly got into a heated argument and moved to the living room in a struggle. The roommate, identified as Michelle L. Ferrell, told police she saw Tillery holding a hand gun. “Get off me, dog. Don’t make me shoot you. Get off me,” the roommate reportedly heard Tillery say. She went outside to call 911 and heard a single gunshot. She told police that when she came back inside she saw Tillery holding the gun in his hand, but he told her he didn’t mean for the gun to go off. Tillery left with Rader out the back door. Rader was later located by authorities and released. Tillery also wanted on an outstanding municipal warrant for possession of a dangerous weapon and trespassing from a 2010 case. He had been arrested earlier but skipped his court date, according to court records. Mack had a lengthy history of drug convictions and had two pending cases for charges of methamphetamine possession.
