An energized game of ultimate: Zachary Ranck, left, tries to intercept the disc intended for James Robin during a game of ultimate, a rugby-like game played with flying discs, Monday on Roos Field at Eastern Washington University. Ranck, the president of the EWU Ultimate Club, organized players, mostly of college and high school age, to break the world record for continuous play of ultimate. Starting Friday at 9:59 a.m., the players from Spokane, Cheney, Boise, the Tri-Cities and around the region split into two teams and played round-the-clock until breaking the current record of 80 hours, 15 minutes. They planned to exceed that by five hours, finishing Monday night at 10:50 p.m. Most of the players endured bruises, scrapes, blisters and sprains, and most were limping Monday afternoon.
